*blood-clotting gauze produced in Ukraine. It stops medium and high-intensity bleeding and provides dense tamponade of the wound.

For 10 years, the body of our land has been in need of hemostatics. Our starting point in making this artwork was the symbolism of the blood-clotting gauze and the technique of tamponade. We rethink their meaning and try to restore the body of our wounded land. Ukraine’s scorched flesh continues to produce immunity. We all seek to heal these wounds. We are all leukocytes, and our primary function is protection. United by the desire to preserve the oxygen supply, we continue to enter the intercellular space aiming to neutralise the war. The mesh, in turn, acts as a blood-clotting gauze. It is made of iron because the blood tastes and smells like iron.
War is a protracted winter, and in this landscape, we continue to tampon this wound, which does not stop bleeding.

This artwork was created during the residency at the Narodnyi Dim in Przemyśl.
