Sofiia Holubeva
Sofiia Holubeva (b. 1997, Odesa) is a Ukrainian interdisciplinary artist living between Berlin and Lviv. Since 2022, Sofiia has been studying at the Universität der Künste Berlin. In 2021, she completed her master’s degree in Monumental Arts at the National Academy of Fine Arts. In 2019, she took a course at KAMA (Kyiv Academy of Media Arts). In 2015, she graduated from the Odesa College of Arts in painting.
She creates site-specific art that combines various media such as paintings, graphics, performances, installations, objects, videos, and mosaics. The artist works with the subjects of memory, intimacy, digitalisation, and the impact of technology on society. Sofiia also explores the concept of home and connections, often involving relatives in her projects. She is researching the history of painting and the role this medium can play today.
Sofiia actively takes part in international exhibitions, residencies, art festivals, and projects in Ukraine and abroad. She has participated in exhibitions in Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Germany, Spain, France, Monaco, and other countries. The artist's works have been covered by publications such as Tagesspiegel, Frankfurter Allgemeine, Mitec, NWZ, Monopol, TAZ, and MorgenPost.
