Anastasiia Dytso and Sasha Roshen

A year before the full-scale invasion, Anastasiia Dytso and Sasha Roshen decided to buy a house. At the end of the year, they decided on a place, rented an apartment in Pushcha-Vodytsia, a Kyiv neighbourhood, and began actively searching for ads there. The start of a full-scale invasion made adjustments to the plans, but the couple did not abandon them altogether. Even while staying at an art residency in another country, Anastasiia goes on monitoring announcements and, together with Sasha, planning the construction of a future house. Persistence and stubbornness in their desire mean an attempt to preserve the feeling of home for the authors. The planning process becomes therapy. Anastasiia and Sasha decided to create a model of the future house from the sand. A house made of sand is associated with children’s games, lightness, and dreaminess. However, for artists, choosing this material proves not their infantility but uncertainty and vulnerability, dependence on conditions.
