Empty buildings
At the beginning of the full-scale war, it was hard for me to start working again, so I only returned to work in about three months. I live in the Kyiv suburbs and remained there in the first days of the war. Before leaving my home, I recall going outside and seeing a large column of cars. The queue seemed endless while advancing along the street. I thought, "There must be so many abandoned buildings". It hurt to imagine that so many people were forced to leave their homes. It is so unbelievably unfair and absurd that people had to flee their home country.
I started thinking about what happens inside empty buildings. I came up with the idea that buildings are like some kind of independent organisms. Inside them, there are invisible processes taking place. Through them, you can observe the processes of destruction and devastation, and then – restoration and subsequent re-accommodating. It is a way for us to comprehend the destruction scale caused by the russian troops. I decided to show these processes this way because I did not find any other depiction method.
