Mykola Kornilov
Mykola Kornilov (b. 1985, Sumy) is a Ukrainian architect and interdisciplinary artist based in Barcelona. He holds an MA in Architecture from Kyiv National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture and a Bachelor in decorative and applied art from Sumy Higher Arts and Culture College. His art and architectural practices are inseparable. He always balances between these two disciplines. If his artistic method as an artist is a constant search and self-reflection (after the start of a full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, his art turned into a reflection of the war), then in architecture, his research interests (which may also appear in the art) cover more extensive fields: (1) Memory (any memory: personal or historical memory, a memory of a place, etc); (2) Imperfection (vernacular and “imperfect” architecture and design, that include both traditional and modern forms); (3) Landscape and its transformation (urban, nature landscape, etc).
