The project deals with personal histories within the grand historical narratives. Civilian casualties and displaced populations are not the only types of collateral damage that armed conflicts bring. The constant flow of worrying information and oscillation between hope and despair are equally damaging to the human psyche. Extensive media coverage, typical for modern conflicts, means that the gruesome face of war is overburdened with details. Thus, withdrawal into the inward space seems a natural reaction. In this space, only what matters the most remains – the well-being of relatives whose lives are under threat and memories of peaceful times.
