Iryna Loskot
Iryna Loskot (b. 2001, Mirny, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia); moved to Kharkiv, Ukraine in early childhood) is a Ukrainian multidisciplinary artist. She graduated from the Kharkiv I. Kotlyarevskyi National University of Arts with a degree in Puppet Theatre Acting. The artist’s practice explores the exploitation of ecology and resistance to this exploitation. In her works, Iryna creates a common memory space for people and non-people. Her approach involves evoking empathy for non-humans by revealing their presence in a person’s individual memory. The artist aims to undermine the anthropocentric view through images of blurring the boundaries between human and non-human experiences.
Her selected exhibitions include the 10th Young Trienniale, Museum of Contemporary Sculpture, Orońsko, Poland (2023), “Greifbar”, Saarlandmuseum Modern Gallery, Saarbrücken, Germany (2023), Performance Platform Lublin 2023, Labyrinth Gallery, Lublin, Poland (2023), “Navigation 2023” at Jam Factory Art Center, Lviv, Ukraine (2023). In 2024, she was awarded a scholarship within the President of Ukraine scholarship program for young writers and artists.
