War in Ukraine

Technique:
Watercolour on paper, levkas, mixed media
Year:
2022-2023

Since last February, I have begun to live through our new reality in my artworks. Having completed more than 80 works in watercolour technique, I noticed how much they revealed subject matters and events of the grave days of the russian invasion. Anxiety, pain, sadness, despair, crying, and waiting. There are no colours on Earth to convey this tragedy. Living in a state of war brought great turmoil to my personal world. The pain in the whole body is impossible to describe. I started looking for ways to share it with people. Live through my story of these events. Images of war began to create these compositions in my mind. Deep and hard experiences can be shared from one person to another. Common challenges, losses, and defending the nation unite society and make us think about our future.
So I put off painting the icons. I have no peace in my soul to go on doing sacred art.
