Anton Karyuk
Anton Karyuk (b. 1988, Dnipropetrovsk) is a Ukrainian multidisciplinary artist. He explores themes of social ecology, humanism, marginality, and identity. His multimedia works have been exhibited at international exhibitions, including the Baltic Gallery of Contemporary Art (Ustka), Alte Feuerwache Loschwitz (Dresden), Galerie Rasch (Kassel), Kulturhuset Leoparden (Sweden), the gallery of the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Association of Artists (Vilnius) and others. Anton participated in various European art residencies. In 2020, the artist received the Scholarship of the Minister of Culture of Poland Gaude Polonia, and the Individual State Scholarships for Culture and Art Creators by the Lithuanian Culture Council, also was nominated for the PinchukArtCentre Prize for young Ukrainian artists. Not limited to the gallery dimensions, his practice covers a wider civil sphere through interventions in public space. Most often, in his works, the artist uses abstract visual language and minimalist performance, revealing personal and socially sensitive topics.
